The Hidden Treasure
Jesus spoke about treasure hidden in a field.
A man found it while he was there. What a surprise! Something very valuable lay under the soil.
The man discovered the hidden treasure. It was worth more than everything he owned.
He covered it again. He wanted to buy that field.

He went away full of joy.
He sold what he had and bought the field. He was glad to do it. He had found something worth giving up other things for.
Now the field belonged to him. The treasure brought him special joy.

Jesus said the kingdom of heaven is like that treasure.
Knowing God and receiving his love are worth far more than gathering toys, coins, or beautiful things.
Our things can be useful and enjoyable. But none can take Jesus' place in our hearts.
The man understood the treasure's value. That is why he chose it gladly.
We can learn to choose what matters most too.
If winning a game means lying, we can choose to tell the truth. If someone needs company, we can make a place beside us.
Those choices do not buy God's love. His love is a gift. They are ways to respond to what he gives us.
We can discover more of this treasure by listening to Jesus' stories, talking with him, and living with his help.
Hidden treasure waits to be discovered. God's love is near, and we can welcome it today.
Jesus tells us a story, and his love stays with us.
