Information for Parents

A quick guide to reading together safely

What the experience does

A parent can read a story aloud while the webpage follows nearby words and plays related sound effects. Readers can also touch marked words to play sounds without enabling the microphone.

How the microphone works

The page does not record or store microphone audio or recognized text. Recognition is performed by the browser and may temporarily send audio to the browser or device provider’s speech-recognition service.

Listening starts only after someone presses the listening button and approves the browser’s permission request. It can be paused at any time. Recognition may occasionally misunderstand words or move the reading position incorrectly; touching a word resets the position.

Recommended family use

  • Let an adult operate microphone permissions and external links.
  • Read together in a quiet room at a comfortable pace.
  • Pause listening whenever you do not want the microphone active.
  • Use the story as a conversation starter and consult the Bible translation or faith tradition your family prefers.
  • Do not ask a child to enter a name, email, address, photograph, or other personal information.
