Jesus Enters Jerusalem
Jesus was approaching Jerusalem. He sent two disciples to bring a young donkey for him to ride.
They found it just as he had told them. The disciples placed their cloaks on its back, and Jesus sat on it.
The donkey carried Jesus along the road.
People recognized him and gathered with joy. Some spread their cloaks on the road. Others cut branches from trees and laid them down.
They welcomed Jesus as the promised King. Their voices filled the road with praise to God.

Jesus was a different kind of king. He came gently, riding a donkey, rather than leading an army into battle.
He cared about the people who welcomed him, and he also knew that difficult days were coming.
Branches rustled as the crowd passed.
Some people wondered who he was. The crowd answered that this was Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth.
Welcoming Jesus means more than cheering for a moment. It means learning to follow his kindness when the road becomes hard.
We can honor him with our words and with the way we treat others. A gentle heart can bring more good than a loud display of power.
