A parable of Jesus · Part 7 of 20 · 3 min
A Very Tiny Seed
Jesus wanted to explain how God's kingdom could begin. He did not choose a story about a huge palace.
He spoke about a mustard seed.
It was a very tiny seed. If you held it in your hand, you would have to look carefully to see it. Beside a large plant, it seemed so small.
A man took the seed and planted it in his field.
The seed rested under the soil.

Days passed. The seed sprouted and began to grow.
The plant grew taller. Its branches spread out until it was larger than the other garden plants.
Birds came to its branches. They found places to rest and build their nests.
Who would have guessed that such a tiny seed could become a plant like that?

When Jesus taught, not everyone noticed how important his work was. His followers were not a powerful army.
But God's love did not need a huge beginning to spread far.
This story reminds us not to look down on small beginnings.
A kind word can help someone who is sad. A small hand can share a toy. A simple prayer can show great trust.
God can use what we offer with love.
When you do something good, you may not see everything that happens afterward. Your friend may learn to share because you shared. Someone may feel welcome because you made room.
Like a growing seed, kindness can keep spreading.
We can begin today with something small and sincere.
Jesus tells us a story, and his love stays with us.
