The Earth Dresses in Green

Dry land had already appeared between the seas. But there were still no leaves on the hills or trees beside the water. On that third day, God continued preparing the world.

God commanded the land to produce vegetation: plants that made seeds and trees that bore fruit. And it happened. The land received an abundance of life that had not been there before.

We can imagine a tiny shoot opening its leaves. Nearby are plants of other shapes and sizes. Everything is not the same. The variety makes the landscape a beautiful place to observe carefully.

Trees had their place too. Their branches held leaves and fruit. Inside the fruit were seeds, and the plants could produce more plants of their own kind. This gift was not only for a moment.

The newly created world was full of beauty. There were lovely trees, flowers, and green spaces. It was an abundant home, prepared before the people who would live there arrived.

The land received flowers and plants of many colors.

No birds were singing among the branches yet, and no rabbits were hiding in the grass. Those animals would arrive on other days. In this part of the story, we can look at the plants and discover how much there is to admire.

A small flower and a tall tree are different, but both belong to creation. We can come close gently, look at their colors, and avoid picking something simply because we can reach it.

God saw that it was good. Evening passed, and morning came: the third day ended. The earth was no longer bare; it was filled with plants, seeds, and fruit.

The trees bore fruit with seeds.

If we care for a plant at home, we can water it when it needs water and give it room to grow. Caring for something alive is a small responsibility we can learn together. The earth had dressed in green, and there were still wonders to discover.

Activity · 2–5 minutes

Learn to care for a plant

With a grown-up, look at a plant in your home or garden without picking its leaves or flowers. Ask what it needs: water, light, or space. The grown-up chooses a suitable task, such as checking whether the soil is dry or moving an object that is in the way, and you do it together. Remember that caring for a plant begins with learning what it needs.

Try it today: I can observe plants with respect and ask for help caring for them.
