Jesus’ Love on the Cross

Jesus was taken to a place called Calvary. There he was placed on a cross between two men who had also been sentenced to die.

People walked along the road to the hill.

This was a very sad day. Jesus was innocent, but he was suffering because of the wrong in our world.

Even then, he showed love. He prayed that his Father would forgive those who were hurting him.

“Father, forgive them.”

One of the men beside him asked Jesus to remember him. Jesus gave him hope that he would be with him in paradise.

Jesus loved and forgave even during the sadness of the cross.
Jesus loved and forgave even during the sadness of the cross.

Jesus also saw his mother nearby. He asked a beloved disciple to care for her.

His love reached the people beside him, the friends who grieved, and those who did not understand what they were doing.

The day grew dark over the land.

At last Jesus died. His friends were filled with sorrow.

Christians remember the cross because Jesus gave his life to save us. But his death would not be the end. God had promised that he would rise again.

When we remember his love, we can choose forgiveness and care. Jesus' kindness did not disappear when the day became darkest.
